Soul Music Its Significance

The sound of Memphis soul music moved to a small area of residential streets a little south of downtown; this area was known as Soulsville, USA. This is the neighborhood that is credited for giving birth to Memphis soul music. Stax Records was the symbol Northern Soul that was at the heart of the Memphis soul artists’ scene. The label was founded in 1957 and was originally called as Satellite Records. Other than the blues music from Memphis, there was also a wide range of genre of music known as soul music that originated from the area. Memphis soul music is a subset of the genre of soul music.
Soul music developed in the late 1950s in African American neighborhoods in Chicago, Memphis, Detroit and soul music Philadelphia. It started while artists like Sam Cooke and Ray Charles started to merge traditional gospel with R&B soul. Memphis has definitely made a large influence on the way we look at and feel about music today and without it, it is safe to assume that the sounds of music today would be completely different from what it was in the past. Definitely none can deny the changes brought to the world of music by this Memphis soul music which is felt all over the world.
